Deaths Continue to Plague North America

Unfortunately 2007 is showing no signs of slowing when it comes to street racing fatalities and injuries.

Several states did toughen their laws for 2007 with automatic Felony status for injuries and Murder charges for fatalities.  Through proper enforcement and continued reporting of the consequences, we can see a drop in these unfortunate statistics.

Keeping up on the enforcement, whether it be traffic, auto theft or fraud, can keep your stats down and save lives.

Drifting in 2007

The D1 Grand Prix World Finals were held December 16th and 17th at Irwindale Speedway in CA. The Japanese dominated the event this year. Darren McNamara of Ireland and Djon Tengku, a Malaysian prince, both reached the second round on Sunday. Americans Vaughn Gittin Jr., Samuel Hubinette, and Rhys Millen all were eliminated in the first round.

Once again, this event was reported to be the largest motorsports weekend, attendance-wise, in track history attracting more than 9,000 spectators; that's a lot of drifters on our streets...March 10th will be the next D1 event at Irwindale.

YouTube, MySpace, & other video outlets

Did you read about the young Norwegian that posted his street racing video on the Internet? The police viewed the tape and were able to cite him for excessive speed, Read more... Several other cases have been reported around the world.

Holding people responsible for dangerous actions in cases such as this can make a difference, particularly with the increase in speed related deaths we are seeing. Many of us have seen incriminating videos on these sites and taken no action regarding the violations. Perhaps we should re-think this attitude and make a difference.

How about this lifestyle drift video...

Affordable OBD VIN reading

$49.95 is all this generic OBD reader costs. Thanks to Sgt. Holmes for sharing with us what our neighbors to the north have used.

We are now working with Autel Intelligent Technology to create an affordable alternative to capturing OBD ECU VINs.

We have pulled VINs from 2000 model year Land Rovers, 2001 Fords, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Plymouths, Kia, Honda, Toyota, GM and many others. It works with all 1996 and newer cars & light trucks that are OBD II compliant (including the CAN, VPW, PWM, ISO and KWP 2000 protocols).

Currently the Geniscan GS300 will not pull out older VINs as our other OBD ECU VIN software does, nor does it go into the same detail or save the data, but it is quick, easy, and very affordable

Auto Theft in the 21st Century

The California Auto Theft in the 21st Century Workshop has only 2 seats remaining. The next intensive 8 hour workshop will be hosted by Maryland/ DC ACT April 18th.

More training information is available at www.vintrack.com/training.htm or by clicking here.

State of the Union Address

The President's State of the Union Address regarding The Advanced Energy Initiative will not only benefit the planet but will most likely help us in identifying stolen vehicles. The president's goal to stop the growth of greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles by 2017 can be accelerated by implementing some of the OBD-III considerations. OBD-III has the ability to monitor emissions and report gross violators instantly. Roadside readers have been tested by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) since 1994. They are capable of reading eight lanes of bumper-to-bumper traffic at 100 miles per hour. This data includes the VIN.

We will report more on this technology next quarter.

Our new scanners have a 50-100% longer read range and can scan 116 times per second, with better performance for damaged or hard to read labels; Great for GM.

Stolen Vehicles Identified

VINtrack Windows Mobile continues to identify stolen vehicles throughout the country. The VINtrack VIN check and OBD VIN software continues to expose data that was missed by conventional means.

VINtrack is used by law enforcement throughout the world and is responsible for identifying clones, VIN switches, re-tags, re-plates and other questionable vehicles conventional means have missed.

VINtrack helps insurance companies from unknowingly insuring stolen VIN-switched/Re-tagged vehicles.

Our enhanced OBD VIN readers can capture electronic VINs in cases where generic OBD readers cannot.
