Stolen Engines & Transmissions on the rise.

Law enforcement throughout the country have been recovering stolen engines and transmissions from Honda's and Acura's (primarily from street racer type vehicles). Investigators should check the validity of all engines when recovering or inspecting these vehicles.

The quickest and easiest way to determine if an engine belongs to the Honda or Acura being inspected is to use our engine cheat sheet which can be download by clicking here.

Transponder Books & Software Available

Law enforcement, SIU, and other approved agencies can now purchase the most comprehensive and popular automotive locksmith books and software in history.

Bender Enterprises Inc. has been given permission to sell these publications and software to qualified investigators such as law enforcement and SIU.

It is imperative to know which vehicles have transponders/immobilizers when conducting auto theft investigations. It is also imperative that the investigator knows how the systems work and how they can be programmed. Michael Hyde's books are considered "the book" to have by most locksmiths.

 Transponder Bypass Follow-up

In issue 5 of this newsletter we mentioned the Wired Magazine article on transponder/immobilizer bypasses (read more...). That article stirred a lot of controversy.

NorthAmerican Technical & Forensic Services wrote a response to this article that can me downloaded by clicking here.

Stolen Vehicles Identified

VINtrack Windows Mobile identified several more stolen vehicles last month throughout the country. The VINtrack VIN check and OBD VIN software exposed data that was missed by conventional means.

VINtrack is used by law enforcement throughout the world and is responsible for identifying clones, VIN switches, re-tags and other questionable vehicles conventional means have missed.

VINtrack helps insurance and automotive companies from unknowingly insuring or buying stolen VIN-switched/Re-tagged vehicles.

Our new OBD VIN readers are enhanced to capture electronic VINs where generic OBD readers cannot.
