Dealership Fraud on the
Rise
|
Several automotive dealerships have been caught
assisting buyers in falsifying loan documents.
These upside-down buyers are then more apt to
commit owner give-ups due to this financial burden.
According to Automotive News,
Louis Harrelson pled guilty in Federal court regarding
similar frauds with his North Carolina six-store
dealership group.
In PA, auto dealer Gregory
Graham died of a heart attack while torching new
vehicles at his struggling dealership.
A Nebraska
dealer and two of his top employees face felony charges
for the theft of 81 new vehicles from his dealership in
a late-night
operation.

Organized
Crime Syndicate sends their members to Japan for
Auto Theft Training.
Car theft syndicates in
Malaysia have been sending their members to Japan
so they can learn how to steal new model
vehicles.
During the three month course the
thieves can specialize in specific skills such as
changing secondary numbers and how to make
duplicate keys. They send members to concentrate
on particular makes and models as they roll off
the assembly lines so they can be prepared to fill
orders for stolen cars as demand increases.
Malaysian car theft syndicates then fill
orders for stolen vehicles on a global scale.
Stolen cars sell from $2,700 to $60,000.
